From New Zealand to London: embracing change<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I recently moved to London in August from New Zealand and I\u2019m loving the fast-paced nature of the city. It\u2019s such a change from what I\u2019m used to, but I\u2019ve embraced the opportunity to explore Europe. Edinburgh in Scotland has been a highlight so far and I\u2019m excited about the year ahead, full of even more travel with friends from home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Discovering recruitment: I am a people person<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

My journey into recruitment wasn\u2019t exactly linear. I started out thinking I would study in a medical field but quickly realised I was too squeamish for that path. I shifted to studying accounting and HR, but numbers weren\u2019t for me either \u2013 I\u2019m much more of a people person<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While still at university, I used the HR side of my degree to gain some experience, starting in an HR coordinator role at Platform 4 Group. From there, I transitioned to an agency and discovered my passion for recruitment. It\u2019s fast-paced and exciting with opportunities to partner with big brands, which I loved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I decided to move to London towards the end of 2023, I knew I wanted to stay in recruitment and focus on marketing and business development within professional services. I discovered Carter Murray through a rec-to-rec and was drawn to their consultative approach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of my proudest moments so far has been my first placement. The client gave me a fantastic testimonial and I even received a LinkedIn recommendation from another client shortly after. These moments mean a lot to me and validate my decision to join this market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Resilience is key in recruitment. You need to put yourself out there and give it your best shot, but it\u2019s also important to treat people with kindness and empathy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Job searching is a tough time for many people and patience goes a long way. The effort you put in pays off when you make a placement or build a lasting connection. It\u2019s all worth it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
