The firm has ambitions to double the size of its existing business through organic growth and selected acquisition.  As part of its marketing strategy they are currently engaged in a re-branding programme and creating an innovative series of propositions.

As part of this forward strategy they have created a new, pivotal marketing role to co-ordinate and manage the firm’s Communications strategy and activity.  The focus of the role is to be responsible for managing and driving campaigns (eg press, radio, etc), working closely with an external consultant, senior management and Team Leaders of each of the legal practice areas.  Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you will also be expected to build close working relationships with the regional marketing groups and participate in their regular marketing meetings. 

The jobholder reports directly to the firm’s Chief Executive Officer, Andy Steele, whilst working closely with a retained Marketing Consultant.  The Marketing Consultant is currently in the office one day a week as a strategic resource.  The implementation/delivery of events is managed by the part time Events teams in each region.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Proposition Development:

  • To coordinate the day-to-day marketing activities and drive marketing campaigns or projects which support the development and delivery of the marketing propositions.
  • The areas of Marketing Communications activity range from Advertising/PR, Events coordination and evaluation, production of external publicity/internal communications materials, to Website development and Market Research.

Advertising/PR

  • To drive advertising campaigns/opportunities (eg press or radio) which maximises PR/promotional exposure for the firm and which meets budget, quality and time targets/constraints. 
  • To be the main internal link with the firm’s retained PR agent and liaise with him to ensure the right level and volume of stories are delivered and the firm’s PR opportunities are maximised to the full

Events

  • To evaluate events against agreed criteria to assess value to the firm and help shape the planning of future events.  (The detailed implementation and delivery of events will be carried out by others in the team as per the organisation chart above). 

Publicity Material/Internal Communications

  • To give creative input to the design and content of the firm’s (client publication) News Link
  • To manage the production of the in-house newsletter, and any other internally generated materials Current examples are the internal newsletter “Involve”, and the delivery of staff communication days/events

Website Development and Management

  • To manage/co-ordinate the development of the firm’s website and multi-media campaigns.

Market Research

  • To conduct market sector and competitor analyses and report as appropriate on important developments/ opportunities
