Cooking for a Cause

OzHarvest

“We are on a mission to eliminate hunger and food waste through the redistribution of quality surplus food.” – OzHarvest

OzHarvest has been the charity partner for The SR Group Australia since 2015. During this time we have enjoyed working together on a number of events to help further a common goal of eliminating both food waste and hunger. Cooking for a cause, a recurring event that has in the past been well received by clients across a multitude of industries will be happening again on the 10th of November.

Cooking for a cause takes place at the OzHarvest Sydney headquarters in Alexandria. Throughout one night, teams work under a professional chef to transform rescued food into restaurant-quality meals that are then delivered to vulnerable Australians across Sydney.

Aside from learning professional cooking skills like mastering a knife and whipping up impressive homemade ravioli, individuals from The SR Group and clients from the companies we represent will be helping to feed disadvantaged Aussies. Through this event we hope to raise $5400 which can provide a meal to over 10,000 Australians. Funds raised from the Cooking for a Cause event will go directly to rescuing food from more than 2,000 commercial outlets and delivering these quality meals to over 800 charities nationwide.

Australians waste on average a staggering four million tonnes and $8 billion of food every year. Since 2004, OzHarvest has succeeded in delivering more than 45,000,000 meals to over 800 charities. Supporting OzHarvest is just one of the many ways that the SR Group, strives to give back to the community as part of our corporate responsibility.

“We’ve been partnering with OzHarvest for two years now and every event we’ve done has been well received by our clients. People love when they can get personally involved and see the difference they can make. This partnership is vital to us and myself personally as it allows us to give back to the local community.”
